Last year I took a leap of faith and traveled to Tennessee solo to my first social media conference, Blissdom. I didn’t know anyone attending the conference but that didn’t stop me from going. Traveling solo, experiencing new people and things is a very thrilling prospect for me and one that I rarely shy away from.
Although there was a little drama getting there, in the form of a snow storm that delayed my departure, I had a fabulous time. I appreciated the warmth and welcoming nature of the organizers and volunteers. I got my first glimpse into the new age of brand marketing and the awe-inspiring power of women. And I had a chance to meet an awesome fella who wrote a book that has helped me deal with my immersion into Social Media. I’m a work in progress and still learning but that’s one of the main reasons why I want to return…to get another taste of the awesome sauce that inspired me for a year.
The venue, the Gaylord Opryland, was magnificent and absolutely beautiful. It’s size and magnitude replicates a small town and is quite fascinating. Although I didn’t stay there, I had the pleasure of taking a tour with some other travel bloggers that I met at the conference and who I’ve had the pleasure to talk to or work with after the conference.
I ended up having the very good fortune of winning the GE Profile washer and dryer set, the hubba bubba of the conference’s prizes. I was shocked to hear my name called but very grateful. It gave me a chance to bless a family in my church with my old, but relatively new set. I absolutely love my GE Profile set today just as much as I did when it first came into my home.
I’m very much looking forward to traveling back to Tennessee again to see family, meet up with people I’ve connected with over the past 12 months, and to create new relationships. If you’re ever apprehensive about going to a conference or traveling solo, please shoot me an email for a pep talk. Like everything else in life, it’s a great experience and it’s what you make of it.
Happy Travels!
